The Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington presented a new display with a Kobe Bryant jersey marking the effect he had on basketball and on American culture overall.
The jersey is from the 2008 NBA Finals and was revealed to the public Monday.
“We wanted to be able to share his impact,” said the museum’s sports curator Damion Thomas, “It really is about the cultural significance of basketball as an expression of the African American fight for greater rights.”
Late Bryant was already featured in the museum with his image in the Sports Gallery.
