The Houston Rockets are finalizing a deal with Stephen Silas to become the team’s new head coach, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. This will be the first head coaching job for Silas, an assistant coach on the Dallas Mavericks these last two years.
The Rockets were searching for their new head coach after Mike D’Antoni decided to not return to the team after the 2020 playoffs. Houston was eliminated 1-4 by the Los Angeles Lakers (that went on to win the championship) in the Western Conference semifinals.
Silas, the son of former NBA player and coach Paul Silas, had coaching stints with various clubs since 1999.
