Evan Fournier will use his $17M option extending his contract through 2020-21, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The French swingman spent the last six seasons with the Orlando Magic and is committing for one more run preferring to become a free agent after the conclusion of the next season.
Fellow French NBA player, Nicolas Batum of the Charlotte Hornets, in an expected decision will exercise his $27.13M player option on Monday, notes Charania.
Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis and Rajon Rondo are both declining their player options, $28.7M and $2.6M, respectively, reports Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports and Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times. Davis is expected to re-sign, while Rondo will attract interest from other teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks, per Turner.
Moving on to the Milwaukee Bucks, Wesley Matthews will decline his $2.7M player option for the 2020-21 season, per Charania. The Lakers will be interested in his services to replace departing Danny Green, reports Marc Stein.
Other surfaced decisions feature Otto Porter Jr. exercising his $28.4M player option to remain with the Chicago Bulls, per Haynes, and Tony Snell of the Detroit Pistons opting in for a $12.2M salary, according to James Edwards III of The Athletic.
