Chris Paul is leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Phoenix Suns in a multiplayer trade that includes Spanish star Ricky Rubio, per multiple reports.
To be exact Paul and Abdel Nader are moving to the Suns for Kelly Oubre, Ricky Rubio, Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque, and a 2022 first-round pick.
Paul has two years left on his contract that will pay him $85 million and he was also linked with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks.
However, both teams would have a hard time completing the trade, unless they would sacrifice key members of their rosters. Οn the contrary, the Suns believe that the duo of Paul and Booker will make Phoenix a factor in the Western Conference.
Ricky Rubio, on the other hand, has also a contract until the summer of 2022 which will pay him a relatively modest $35 million. The 2019 FIBA World Champion with Spain is moving to his fourth NBA team after Minessota, Utah, and Phoenix at the peak of his career.
He is expected to have a dominant role in Oklahoma City, which also lost Dennis Schroder to the Lakers. Last season Rubio tied his career-high average in scoring with 13.1 ppg while dishing 8.9 apg.
