Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson suffered a right leg injury during a workout on Tuesday in Southern California and as ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reports, the team is worried it’s an Achilles tendon injury, thus Thompson will undergo an MRI on Thursday.
Thompson spent the entire 2019-20 season sidelined as he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the 2019 NBA Finals against the Warriors and he’s been rehabbing that for more than a year now.
The Warriors have just drafted James Wiseman with the No. 2 pick on Wednesday’s NBA draft, but their joy was cut short with the news of Thompson’s injury.
Per ESPN, “several members of the organization, possibly including coach Steve Kerr, are flying to Los Angeles to be there for Thompson when he gets his MRI”, Thompson’s manager Bob Myers said.
Kerr said recently that even though the Warriors didn’t clear Thompson to scrimmage during their team bubble in San Francisco, “he was pleased with the way Thompson’s rehab was progressing”.
