A brand new look to the Dallas Mavericks was presented Tuesday evening with the white-and-gold City Edition uniforms moving away from the usual jerseys and striking visible similarities to Real Madrid.
Luka Doncic, prior to his NBA jump, rocked European basketball with the Spanish powerhouse despite an even younger age. His numerous accolades include the 2018 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title.
A couple of years forward, the City Edition uniforms will bring him as close as it gets to Madrid. In turn, the Mavericks in the apparent symbolism hope for a bright future relying on the Slovenian sensation, modelling Kristaps Porzingis, and remaining teammates.
Per the press release: “The Dallas Mavericks announced today the unveiling of the NIKE City Edition Legacy Is Everything uniform, presented in partnership with official jersey partner, Chime. The City Edition uniform will be worn throughout the 2020-21 regular season.
The new jersey is a nod to one of the most iconic and powerful symbols of the City of Dallas, the legend of the Pegasus.
The Greek mythological creature, the Pegasus, has represented power and strength for thousands of years and has been a symbol of one that breaks through darkness with hope and light. For nearly a century, a Pegasus has stood watch over Downtown Dallas, and has become an emblem of growth and prosperity. This season, the Dallas Mavericks are invoking the power of the Pegasus, cast in brilliant shades of silver and gold, a nod to the 2011 Championship.
Features of the jersey include the wordmark Legacy is Everything, as the Mavs are dedicated to building a legacy with this squad in this City. A 40th Anniversary logo is stamped on the waistband, to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the team in Dallas. And the Dallas Skyline logo is included on the jock tag, as is the theme among all Dallas Mavericks City Edition jerseys.”
