Luka Doncic via video conference discussed his goals for the 2020-21 season, recapped his first NBA playoffs experience, and also commented on former Real Madrid teammate Facundo Campazzo joining the Denver Nuggets.

“I am not happy because he is an amazing player,” he said jokingly before crediting the Argentine floor general, “I am happy for him to be here. He deserves it. I am going to cheer for him in every game but not against us.”

His interview with reporters on the first day of media week as the Dallas Mavericks opened training camp ahead of the 2020-21 Regular Season included him restating his goal of capturing an NBA title.

“Every year I want to be better,” he said. “That’s the goal for me. Like I always say, I want to win the championship.”

“You’ve got to work on everything,” he added diving into his preparations for the 2020-21 REgular Season scheduled to begin on December 22, “Until you’re the best at something, you’ve always got to work on everything. I worked on everything, especially my shooting.”

His first NBA postseason run was limited to six games. The Los Angeles Clippers eliminated the Mavs in the Orlando bubble.

“It was not great because we did not win,” he argued, “It was my first playoffs experience against an amazing team. I learned a lot. The whole group learned a lot.”

The approaching brand new season remains far from conventional for all teams and players including the Slovenian sensation himself.

“During this pandemic, all this stuff is going to be different,” he pointed out, “Some players might get corona, get sick, not be able to be with the team for 10 days. I think that’s going to be a big part: Which team is not going to have positive people.”
