Kevin Durant coming off a long layoff after suffering a torn Achilles updated his status via video conference following his first training camp workout on Tuesday. “I feel good playing,” he mentioned, “I am just taking it a day at a time.”

“Who knows,” he replied to a question on how close he is to recovering previous form during the opening day of the Brooklyn Nets Media Week, “I just got to see how I feel in a real NBA game.”

The rehabilitation process stretched from prior to the hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic and through 2019-20 action resuming in the Orlando bubble. He is finally projected to get back in action and debut with the Nets.

“I have been through surgeries and injuries before, but the longest recovery was three months,” he recalled, “The first phase of the was three months. You can’t walk around, you have to use a scooter.”

Durant spent part of the offseason training with teammate Kyrie Irving and also worked out with Washington Wizards guard John Wall aiming to get ready for the 2020-21 Regular Season planned to begin on December 22.

“I’ve worked as hard as I could,” he said. “I’ve been in the league 14 years; even if I didn’t have an Achilles, I wouldn’t be at 100 percent. It’s just wear and tear over time. I feel solid.”
