It did not take much for Kawhi Leonard and Serge Ibaka to become teammates once again. After helping the Toronto Raptors capture the NBA championship in 2019, they will aim for similar success, this time around joining forces at the Los Angeles Clippers.
Ibaka, 31, explained talking to reporters Thursday how brief Leonard was in contacting and eventually convincing him the first day of the 2020 free agency.
“Hey, what’s up?” he texted him, recalled the recent addition to the Clippers via video conference, “Are you coming or no?”
The Congolese-Spanish big inked a two-year, $19M contract moving on to his fourth NBA team following the Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, and Raptors.
Leonard, 29, joined the Clippers in 2019 after landing his second NBA title.
