The NBA’s 30 teams will each receive 30 million dollars from the league ahead of the new season to help them manage continued pandemic-related costs and missed revenue, according to Yahoo Sports.

The league recently sold $900 million in notes in a private placement to institutional investors and will likely disburse the money to teams ahead of the season.

Many teams will be playing games without fans in the stands or with heavily reduced numbers and can use the $30 million as they see fit.

On another note, the NBA has updated its policies regarding resting players and the teams won’t be allowed to do so in the case of nationally televised games. The violation could result in a 100,000 dollars fine at minimum, per Chris Haynes.

The NBA faced many challenges since the start of the pandemic as did other organizations throughout the globe which includes lower ratings in the bubble restart than usual and smaller revenue. With the upcoming season being influenced by all that and potentially facing new obstacles, the league is doing all in its power to soften the blow and overcome the danger of a heavier financial fall.
