The NBA Board of Governors is expected to approve the expansion of active rosters from 13 to 15 for games, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
It’s a move that will allow teams and coaches to have more flexibility in the upcoming season and better handle the problems that the COVID-19 pandemic can cause regarding their manpower. The decision will also have a beneficial impact in light of the 2020-21 short schedule that has teams playing 72 regular season games in five months.
The NBA regular season will launch in December 22 and will end in May 16. The playoffs will then begin May 22.
UPDATE: The NBA officially approved the increase of players to active rosters to 15 while setting March 15 as the new trade deadline.
