Some notable European big men completed Saturday’s (2/1) NBA gameday with double-doubles but their performances didn’t arrive with wins for their teams.
The most dominant display came by Nikola Vucevic. The Montenegrin center had a season-high 30 points plus 13 rebounds in the Orlando Magic‘s 99 – 108 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Theo Maledon scored in double figures for the first time in the NBA, finishing with 12 points, along with four assists in 19 minutes off the bench. Aleksej Pokusevski took just one shot and went scoreless in the 14 minutes he spent on the floor.
In Atlanta, Clint Capela registered season-highs 16 points and 16 rebounds for the Hawks that fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers 91 – 96.
Cedi Osman had 11 points for the winning side while Bogdan Bogdanovic dropped 11 points for the Hawks.
Domantas Sabonis couldn’t combine his sixth straight double-double (13 points, 13 rebounds) with a victory for the Indiana Pacers since the New York Knicks made a charge down the stretch to win 106 – 102. It was the least productive game this season for the Lithuanian All-Star who has had a brilliant start overall with 20.8 points, 11.3 points and 6.7 assists.
The rest of Saturday’s NBA results and Euro-scorers:
Houston Rockets – Sacramento Kings 102 – 94 (Nemanja Bjelica seven rebounds, one point)
