The first offensive firecracker of the 2020-21 NBA Regular Season was launched on Sunday by Stephen Curry. His career-high 62 points send the Golden State Warriors to the win against the Portland Trail Blazers and Damian Lillard.
“The best guys in the league, especially from the point-guard position, always bring the best out of you,” he pointed out referring to the elite matchup, “If you are around the league long enough, you get to see every scenario or situation.”
His previous career-high was 54 points against the New York Knicks back in February 2013. Curry eclipsed the mark set at the Madison Square Garden with 10/15 twos and 8/16 threes paired with yet another personal-best of 18/19 free throws. He constantly absorbed contact earning those trips to the line.
“I love it. I love everything about what this game offers, the competitiveness and the fire,” he added, “I never run from it. Just excited to be in that atmosphere where I get to play at the highest level and do what I do.”
His 62 points are the most produced in a single game by any player so far in the young season. His 21 points in the first quarter set the pace and also propelled him to his 10th career 30-point half.
The Warriors improved to 3-3 move on past the two games in a row versus the Blazers to five more home tilts starting off with the Sacramento Kings Monday. The Los Angeles Clippers twice, the Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers complete the seven-game home stretch.
