Veteran NBA guard George Hill criticized the modified health protocols and guidelines that the the league implemented amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases among teams.

“”We wanna play the game … but I don’t understand some of the rules, Hill said after the Oklahoma City Thunder 112-102 home loss to the San Antonio Spurs. “We can sweat 48 minutes with a guy next to us for 48 minutes, but we can’t talk to them afterwards. It makes no sense.”

According to the new health and safety protocols, players aren’t allowed their hotel rooms unless for team activities or emergencies. When it comes to interactions with other people, they can be done only with household members, family or any personal staff that is working at home.

In the next two weeks (at least), players are required to stay at their home at all times, save for team activities, essential activities or outdoor exercise.

“I’m a grown man. I’m gonna do what I want to do,” Hill added. “If I want to go see my family, I’m going to go see my family,” Hill said. “They can’t tell me I have to stay in a room 24/7. If it’s that serious, then maybe we shouldn’t be playing. But it’s life; no one’s going to be able to just cancel their whole life for this game.”
