The Detroit Pistons are finalizing a Derrick Rose trade with the New York Knicks, as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The Pistons will send over the former No. 1 NBA draft pick for Dennis Smith Jr. and draft compensation after Rose and the Pistons agreed “a trade is best for both sides“, as Charania reports.
32-year-old Rose is averaging 14.2 points, 4.2 assists and 1.9 rebounds per contest this season, his second with the Pistons after spending 2016-19 with the Knicks, Cavs and Timberwolves.
Upon his return to New York, Rose will reunite with his old coach Tom Thibodeau.
