Several NBA players have stood against the 2021 All-Star Game taking place, as planned by the league. Domantas Sabonis added on the topic looking into and understanding the situation from every viewpoint.
“The All-Star Game is always exciting for the fans. It’s a really cool thing that everybody waits every year,” said the Indiana Pacers star following Sunday’s loss to the Utah Jazz.
“For the players, getting some time during a crazy season like this with the COVID-19 protocols, it would be really nice to go home or wherever and just spend time with your family and loved ones. It’s been a tough year,” he added, “But the NBA is in charge and we should follow the rules.”
Sabonis, 24, was fresh off a third straight loss in the 2020-21 Regular Season largely impacted by the health and safety protocols implemented by the NBA to prevent a coronavirus spread. Adding insult to injury, a frustrating exit after fouling out in the last minute with 20 points and nine rebounds to his name.
The Lithuanian big made his All-Star Game debut last season. His 22.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists so far build him as a strong candidate for a back-to-back appearance.
