The Houston Rockets are waiving four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins after 25 games this season, according to reports by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The Rockets have guaranteed Cousins’ $2.3 million salary for the season last week and the player is now free to explore other options on the market. Per ESPN, Cousins was “not happy with his role as a backup center behind Christian Wood, wanting more playing time”.
30-year-old Cousins averaged 9.6 points and 7.6 rebounds in 25 games with the Rockets this season and is slowly bouncing back from a series of injuries, after rupturing his Achilles tendon during the 2017-18 season.
