The Brooklyn Nets were missing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and the Mavericks didn’t let that opportunity get past them.
Luka Doncic stepped up to the occasion with 27 points, seven assists, and six rebounds to lead his team to victory. The opposing superstar in James Harden logged a similar stat line with 29 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
The relatively recent addition to the Nets was impressed with the young Slovenian in the latest duel as well as in general and sent some praise his way, as comparisons between the two surfaced.
“There are some similarities. He never lets anyone speed him up, and he gets what he wants. That’s rare for a guy at a young age. I think he’s 21 years old. And to be able to dictate the game and control the game like he does, we all know he has a very, very bright future,” Harden said and added. “The Mavs got a special one.”
Doncic heard the nice words and responded humbly and in the same manner: “It’s something you can’t even describe if somebody like that says something about you. It’s just amazing. I really appreciate it. I watch him. He’s an unbelievable player and just really special.”
