The Los Angeles Lakers wrapped up the first part of the 2020-21 NBA Regular Season schedule losing to the Sacramento Kings on the road. Wednesday’s result dropped the defending champions to 24-13 and a Western Conference third-place tie with the Los Angeles Clippers. They missed LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Marc Gasol, among others.
“We are going to have situations like this,” pointed out German point guard Dennis Schroder, “We just got to be ready and have the next-man mentality. Whoever steps on the floor got to compete. That’s what we can control and that’s what we have to focus on. We can’t focus on nothing else really.”
Schroder, 27, registered a team-high 28 points to go along with his nine assists versus the Kings. He averaged 14.9 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per match over 33 appearances heading into the All-Star Game break.
“We are missing two of the best players in the league, but at the end of the day we got to make it work,” he added on the circumstances surrounding the last game before the second part of the season, “We did not win but we had our chances. We loved to see everybody stepping up, moving the ball, and playing for each other.”
The German star moved to the Lakers via trade in November after a couple of seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder and five with the Atlanta Hawks.
