The Dallas Mavericks sent James Johnson, Wes Iwundu and a second-round pick to New Orleans in order to acquire JJ Redick and Nicolo Melli, according to Shams Charania.
Mavericks got their hands on two shooters to bolster their depth while Pelicans receive a gritty veteran forward in Johnson, a young player, and a draft asset.
Redick averaged 8.7 points on 36% from deep this season off the bench while Melli, despite his not-so-impressive numbers, established himself as a veteran of the team, sharing the experience with the up-and-coming stars including Zion Williamson who praised him for it.
