Evan Fournier did not make his first appearance with the Boston Celtics on Saturday versus the Oklahoma City Thunder after entering the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
The recently-added French swingman passed his physical and was looking ready for his Celtics debut. However, his first game following the seven-year run attached to the Orlando Magic was delayed. It is unclear whether he tested positive for coronavirus or was sidelined due to contact tracing.
“I don’t want to get into the details because I don’t know the answers,” admitted head coach Brad Stevens regarding his new player’s debut.
Fournier, set to become a free agent after the 2020-21 season, averaged 19.7 points, 3.7 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game in the Magic portion of his current campaign.
