Both the Boston Celtics and Evan Fournier got back on track against the Houston Rockets Friday. The French swingman, after being held to 3/16 field goals over his first two showings attached to Boston punched in 23 points and a career-high seven three-pointers.
“I always try to stay in the moment,” he said following the 2020-21 NBA Regular Season contest, “Never too high; never too low. It’s been my motto for years now. I’ve played nine years in this league now; I know who I am, and I know what I’m capable of doing.”
Fournier, 28, was 1/5 in the first three quarters but hit 6/6 triples in the final period. He scored 20 of his points in the fourth quarter ending up with 7/11 from beyond the arc and 8/13 field goals. Apart from his NBA-best, he ranked second in triples made by a Celtics reserve in team history, behind Eddie House and his 8/9 effort in 2009.
“It’s my first win as a Celtic, and it’s just a good overall night,” he pointed out off the third part of a seven-game home stretch for his third NBA team, “I’m going to enjoy a glass of wine tonight and I’m going to sleep very well.”
Following a couple of campaigns with the Denver Nuggets, he spent six full seasons at the Orlando Magic and played 26 more games this season before being traded. Shaking off his rocky start through necessary adjustments, he managed to verify his credentials as a valuable asset in the hunt for a playoffs berth.
The Celtics back on the win column improved to 24-25 matching the New York Knicks in 7th place of the Eastern Conference. The Charlotte Hornets are coming up on Sunday.
