Kevin Durant fined $50,000 for ‘offensive and derogatory language’

Kevin Durant was fined by the NBA for using offensive and derogatory language on social media, the league announced.

Per the press release: “Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant has been fined $50,000 for using offensive and derogatory language on social media, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, League Operations. Durant has acknowledged that his actions were inappropriate.”

Actor Michael Rapaport previously shared digital screenshots of his interaction with Durant. “I receive threats and disgusting messages DAILY, but never in my wildest dreams did I think [Kevin Durant] would be among them,” he wrote, “The [snake] himself is now threatening me, bringing up my wife and wants to fight. This is supposed to be America’s sweetheart right?”

Durant, 32, currently sidelined due to a hamstring injury suffered in February, put up 29 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per contest in his first 19 games with the Brooklyn Nets.
