Boban Marjanovic tied his season-highs of 15 points and 12 rebounds in the Dallas Mavericks‘ win over the Washington Wizards while having his second game with 20+ minutes on the floor this season.
“Boban’s got a lot going on. He’s got to to fit us into his commercial-making schedule. That can’t be easy either. It’s good that he fits us in,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlile joked when he was asked about Marjanovic producing double-doubles when he’s used for extended periods of time and while coming off consecutive games on the bench. The Serbian big man was a DNP in the victories over the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks.
“He’s a productive guy,” Carlisle added. “We tend to look for certain desirable situations that we think are good situations for him to play. He’s gonna be a factor one way or another in any game he goes in.”
Carlisle acknowledged that this can be challenging for Marjanovic and mention that it doesn’t affect his work ethic or spirits.
“It’s not easy to do what he’s doing but he’s a tireless worker, he’ll stay in the gym, play one-on-one with one of our video guys in the practice facility if he’s not playing much to keep his rhythm and conditioning going. The guy absolutely loves to play basketball, he loves his teammates and his teammates love him.”
He’s just one of those people who seems to be naturally grateful. To be in the NBA, to living life, to do whatever he’s doing. He’s a great guy to be around because you can’t help but feel a positive vibe [from him].”
