Real Madrid forward Gabriel Deck is leaving the club to sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Chema De Lucas. The Argentinian player will be exiting Real Madrid just hours after the completion of the EuroLeague regular season for the team and less than two weeks before the launch of the playoffs.
Deck becomes the second Argentinian Real Madrid player to move to NBA in the mid of the 2020-21 season after current Denver Nuggets guard Facu Campazzo.
In what appears to have been his last game with Real, 26-year-old Deck scored 19 points (5-7 2-pointers, 3-7 3-pointers) in a decisive away win over Fenerbahce Beko that sent the Blancos to the playoffs. A week ago, he had 19 points in a victory over Olympiacos Piraeus.
Overall in 2020-21, Deck was averaging 8.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 24:06 minutes in EuroLeague, along with 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 23:18 minutes in the Spanish ACB League.
Deck’s departure leaves Real Madrid minus another key rotation player for the remainder of the season since the team has already been without forward Anthony Randolph (done for this year’s campaign).
