Marc Gasol seemed comfortable playing with a left pinkie finger injury in the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Boston Celtics on Thursday.
“It felt a little weird when I went up, with the grip of the ball, but adrenaline helps,” he said after the game of the 2020-21 NBA Regular Season, “At that point, you just want to continue to help your team.”
The experienced center ended up with a season-high 18 points, behind 3/4 two-pointers and 4/6 three-pointers. He lasted 21 minutes.
After the contest conclusion, the Lakers confirmed a volar plate fracture in his left pinkie finger. He is considered questionable for Saturday’s home game versus the leaders of the NBA standings, Utah Jazz.
“Hopefully, I am ready,” he mentioned regarding him being available in the next fixture, “But it’s my left hand, I don’t use it much anyway, so we’ll see.”
Head coach Frank Vogel added that Gasol told him, “I don’t need my left hand.” when he asked him if he can return to Thursday’s game after dislocating his finger.
Gasol, 36, returned to the starting lineup with Andre Drummond sidelined due to his latest toe injury.
