TD Systems Baskonia’s Luca Vildoza has agreed in principle to a $13.6M, four-year contract with the New York Knicks, his agent Alex Saratsis told ESPN. The team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz announced his departure thanking him for his contribution since moving to Europe and joining the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague club in 2017.
Vildoza, 25, was in advanced talks with the Knicks, Eurohoops sources recently confirmed. The Spanish team will receive a $2M buyout, as previously reported.
The $3.5M attached to the remainder of the 2020-21 season are guaranteed, notes Chema de Lucas, while the remaining three years of his contract are not guaranteed. Baskonia will retain his rights in Europe.
The member of the Argentinian national team is expected to fly to New York, once he is cleared to travel. There is no clear timetable for the trip.
Vildoza, in his fourth EuroLeague campaign, averaged 10.3 points, 3.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per match over 32 appearances. He also logged 10.3 points per ACB game.
