The Phoenix Suns got away with a 123-98 victory against the Denver Nuggets to also get a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals.
The ageless Chris Paul took charge for the Suns to post a double-double with 17 points and 15 assists, while Devin Booker led all scorers with 18 points. Mikal Bridges and Deandre Ayton tapped 16 and 15 points respectively for the Suns.
Newly named league MVP Nikola Jokic had 24 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the Nuggets, though the team lacked consistent scoring.
“They are playing better than us. They are making shots, being more aggressive, finding the open man. It looks real bad out there. We need to change everything”, said Jokic after the discouraging defeat.
Paul Milsap and Michael Porter Jr. added 11 points each for Denver and Will Barton posted 10.
Game 3 of the series tips off Friday, this time in Denver, as the Nuggets will look to bounce back from back-to-back defeats.
