Dirk Nowitzki returns to Dallas two seasons after his retirement, this time as a Special Advisor, as reported by the New York Times’ Marc Stein.
Nowitzki’s first assignment at the request of owner Mark Cuban, according to Stein is to assist the team in its search for a new head of basketball operations and then, for a new head coach, after Rick Carlisle stepped down Thursday.
“Mark approached me and asked me to help out and of course I said yes. Any way I can help my Mavs, I’m in,” said Nowitzki as Stein further reports.
