The series between Milwaukee and Brooklyn ended Saturday as the Bucks survived in OT to make it to the Eastern Conference finals.
Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo played a key part in this win with 40 points, 13 rebounds, though it was Kevin Durant who stole the show and… nearly won the game for the Nets at the end of regulation.
Giannis, who has called Durant “the best player in the world” after his Game 5 triple-double heroics (49 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists), stuck to his quote after the conclusion of the series.
“I said it a couple of days ago, he’s the best player in the world. He’s still the best player in the world”, said Giannis, as his Bucks are getting ready to face either Philadelphia 76ers or Atlanta Hawks in the finals.
It was a nerve-wracking finale, in which Giannis also made history, becoming just the fifth player in NBA history to record 40+ points and 10+ rebounds in a Game 7, after Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Charles Barkley and Tim Duncan.
“At the end of the day, I try not to get too high, not to get too low. But I almost got emotional a little bit out there because the team really tried their best,” he said. “We kept our composure. We were down 2-0. A lot of people didn’t believe we could make it.”
