LA Clippers All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard underwent successful surgery to repair a partial tear of his right anterior cruciate ligament, the team confirmed Tuesday evening. There is no timetable for his return, though typically partial ACL tears take at least three months of recovery after surgery.
Leonard, 30, was injured in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinal series against the Utah Jazz, in which he scored 31 points as his team won 118-104. Despite lacking Leonard, the Clippers made it through the conference finals, where they faced the Phoenix Suns.
Leonard averaged 24.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.6 assists this season, his second with the Clippers and his 10th overall in the NBA and he holds a player option for next season as part of his three-year deal which he signed in 2019.
