LeBron James has become the NBA player to reach the $1 billion mark in career earnings while still being active, according to a report by Sportico.
The number of one billion includes James’ salaries from the teams he’s played so far in his career and several endorsements. LeBron signed his first contract with Nike at 18 years of age, a seven-year, 90 million endorsement deal and in 2016, he signed a lifetime contract that gives him back an annual sum of $30 million.
James’ endorsements include companies such as AT&T, Beats, Nike, Walmart, Blade Pizza, Rimowa and GMC.
Apart from signing lucrative contracts with clubs and his deals with Nike, James has been involved in several businesses. Among them is a partnership in the Fenway Sports Group, which owns baseball club Boston Red Sox and football club Liverpool, among others.
