Kawhi Leonard has decided to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers, per Yahoo Sports.
Leonard, 30, previously declined the $36M option of his previous contract to become a free agent but was aiming to remain with the Los Angeles team, as previously reported. The terms of the new deal are still being finalized, as noted in the latest update regarding his status.
Last month, the two-time NBA champion and Finals MVP underwent surgery on the partially torn right ACL following his early exit from the 2021 NBA Playoffs. There is no timetable for his return.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat agreed on the four-year contract, $184M extension with a player option for the last season, according to Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinel. The deal was expected, as previously reported.
