Kevin Durant will ink a four-year, $198M contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets after he becomes eligible on Saturday, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Durant, 32, still has one year left in his current contract and an option for 2022-23. He will decline that option with the contract extension stretching from 2022-23 to the end of the 2025-26 season.
The two-time NBA champion originally signed a four-year $164M contract to join the Nets on a sign-and-trade deal in 2019. He sat out the first season and returned to action during 2020-21 putting up 28.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1,4 blocks, and 0.9 steals per appearance.
He is currently representing the USA in the 2020 Olympic Games heading to the gold medal game against France, planned to be played in Tokyo on Saturday. As a leading member of the squad, he averaged 19.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.2 steals per match up to the semifinals.
