Lauri Markkanen has been attracting the attention of several NBA teams as a restricted free agent. The Dallas Mavericks can be added to that list, according to insider Kevin O’Connor.
Markkanen, 24, recently told Finnish journalist Antti-Jussi Sipila that he is considering multiple offers. “I want a fresh start to my NBA career somewhere else,” he added all but ruling out staying with the Chicago Bulls.
The Finnish big has been indeed linked with several teams, including the Charlotte Hornets. The Bulls after extending a qualifying offer can decline to match the potential offer sheet or shift him out via a sign-and-trade deal with the Mavs or another NBA team.
The former Arizona standout was selected with the 7th overall pick of the 2017 NBA draft. He since spent his first four NBA years at Chicago appearing in 221 contests. However, his role was reduced through 2020-21.
