Boban Marjanovic officially re-signs with the Mavericks

Boban Marjanovic has re-signed with the Dallas Maverics, per the club. The Serbian big man has been with Dallas since 2019 when he joined the team as a free agent.

The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have re-signed center Boban Marjanović. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Marjanović (7-3, 290) is a six-year veteran with career averages of 6.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 9.6 minutes in 263 games (25 starts) with San Antonio, Detroit, the L.A. Clippers, Philadelphia and Dallas.

Marjanović was originally signed by Dallas in July 2019 and, in two seasons with the Mavericks, averages 5.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 9.0 minutes in 77 games (eight starts). Last season, he contributed 4.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 8.2 minutes over 33 games (three starts).

In the Mavericks’ seven-game first round playoff series against the Clippers, Marjanović was inserted into the starting lineup prior to Game 5, where he stayed for the final three games of the series. In four total games, he averaged playoff career highs of 11.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 20.8 minutes. His first career playoff double-double came in Game 7 when he scored 14 points and added a playoff career-high 10 rebounds in 31 minutes.

The best game of Marjanović’s career came on March 11, 2020, the night the NBA announced the suspension of the 2019-20 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the 113-97 home win against Denver, Marjanović scored a career-high 31 points (12-20 FG, 7-8 FT) to go with 17 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 31 minutes.

The Serbian native began his NBA journey when he signed a one-year contract with the Spurs on July 17, 2015.

Prior to the NBA, Marjanović played professionally in Serbia, Russia and Lithuania and won championships in the Serbian League, Lithuanian League, Baltic League and Adriatic League. He was a three-time Serbian Super League Most Valuable Player (2013-15) and All-EuroLeague First Team in 2015.
