Leandro Bolmaro was drafted by the New York Knicks in 2020 but his rights were traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves and the team has been keeping an eye on him with the intention of adding the Argentinian guard to the roster for the 2021-22 campaign.
Gersson Rosas, Timberwolves’ President of Basketball Operations, mentioned as much back in May this year and, according to Infobae, the sides will go through with a three-year deal and Bolmaro will join the team at the start of next week. Barcelona will be paid a buyout of 900,000 euros (750,000 by Minnesota).
Wolves have been keeping an eye on Bolmaro, on the head with his fellow Argentinian Pablo Prigioni who is part of the team’s coaching staff. The 20-year-old showed he can carry a decent amount of load and responsibility during the run with Barca last season where he gained more playing time and much experience in both EuroLeague and the Spanish league.
Bolmaro was also a part of the Argentian national team that made it to the Tokyo Olympics, eventually finishing seventh after falling to Australia in the quarterfinals.
