Two-time All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas is looking to get an NBA contract and make a strong comeback in the league.
“I’ve been talking to four teams,” Thomas answered when asked if he’s received any interest or calls by NBA teams during an appearance on ESPN’s Jalen and Jacoby show.
Could the Boston Celtics be an option too? “There’s a little talk about that,” Thomas said. “I think the world wants that to happen because it only makes sense. Thomas had the top season of his career with the Celtics in 2017, when he averaged 28.9 points and 5.9 assists.
“If the opportunity presents itself, I know I can help that team — especially the young guys, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. I know I can help,” Thomas added.
Thomas just scored 81 points in a game for Jamal Crawford’s The Crawsover Pro Am League while having 65 points in an Atlanta Pro Am match. He’s hoping that this kind of performance will show that he’s completely ready for an NBA return.
“These games can only help,” Thomas said. “Because more and more people see that I’m back to looking like myself, back at feeling like myself. I’m in a great shape, mentally and physically and I’m ready for whatever opportunity presents itself this coming season.”
