Goran Dragic had said that he wants to play with Luka Doncic once again but he may not get his wish fulfilled.
According to ESPN’s Jordan Schultz, the Dallas Mavericks won’t be signing Dragic, something that seems to be putting a “Dragic-Doncic reunion” out of the picture.
Dragic was traded by the Miami Heat to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Kyle Lowry in August. The Slovenian great has to reach a buyout agreement with the Raptors to become a free agent before signing with another team and there haven’t even been discussions about that, Schultz also reports.
Dallas has been looking to be a likely scenario for Dragic since the team is reported to be looking for some backcourt depth and the veteran player himself expressed his willingness to partner with Doncic once more, after Slovenia’s run towards winning the gold in the 2017 EuroBasket. The two of them had an exceptionally strong chemistry on the floor during the tournament.
In 2020-21, Dragic averaged 13.4 points, 4.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds in the regular season.
