Ben Simmons informed the Philadelphia 76ers that he wants to be traded and is set on going through with it without appearing anymore in the team’s jersey, according to Shams Charania.
His teammates, including Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris, wanted to travel to Los Angeles to meet with Simmons and try to convince him to change his mind, however, the three-time All-Star didn’t want to see them and they were informed not to come.
Simmons didn’t want his teammates, some of whom he considers friends, to make the Philadelphia-to-Los Angeles commute out of courtesy because he won’t change his mind on wanting a trade.
So far, the Sixers haven’t received a good-enough offer for Simmons, although teams are interested and calling. Simmons has four years and $147 million left on his max contract.
