Washington Wizards forward Rui Hachimura is out indefinitely with an excused absence due to personal reasons, the team announced Saturday. The Wizards‘ camp starts next Tuesday, while their first preseason game is on October 5, and they face the Toronto Raptors for their regular-season opener on October 20.
Hachimura, 23, has posted averages of 13.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in his 105 games with Washington in the past two seasons. The Wizards selected the Japanese forward with the 9th pick at the 2019 NBA draft.
Hachimura appeared with the Japanese selection in Tokyo’s Olympics this summer, averaging 22.3 points, 6.7 rebounds across three games.
