After he got waived by the Houston Rockets, Sekou Doumbouya is close to finding a new contract on an NBA team. According to Shams Charania, the French forward is moving towards signing a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Doumbouya was selected by the Detroit Pistons with the 15th overall pick in 2019. In his two years in Detroit, he didn’t manage to make the impact the Pistons expected when they drafted him and had multiple assignments in the G League with the Grand Rapids Drive.
Over his two seasons with the Pistons, Doumbouya averaged 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 17.3 minutes over 94 games.
UPDATE: The Lakers officially announced that Doumbouya signed a two-way contract with the club.
