With the new NBA season tipping off Tuesday night, the league has released the full list of international players who are on are on opening-night rosters for the 2021-22 Anniversary season. A stunning number of 107 international players originating from 39 different countries.
As the league slowly becomes more global, we’ve seen a record-tying six international players in 2020-21 All-NBA Teams: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks; Greece; ties to Nigeria; All-NBA First Team), Luka Doncic (Mavericks; Slovenia; All-NBA First Team), Nikola Jokić (Nuggets; Serbia; All-NBA First Team), Joel Embiid (All-NBA Second Team), Rudy Gobert (Jazz; France; All-NBA Third Team) and Kyrie Irving (Nets; Australia; All-NBA Third Team).
In addition to those 109 players, there are also a record 12 international players from seven countries on two-way contracts, including six players who participated in the Basketball Without Boarders program.
