After being suspended for the season-opener by the Philadelphia 76ers due to conduct detrimental to the team, Ben Simmons did not participate in Thursday’s scheduled individual workout at the franchise’s training facility and was briefly treated for back tightness, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The All-Star guard is expected to show up to the Sixers’ shootaround on Friday morning to discuss his playing status with organizational leadership, as Wojnarowski further reports.
In the meantime, more reports, this time by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, mention that the Australian guard is “currently not mentally ready to play for the team” and was receiving treatment on his back today due to ramp up process. With that being said, he is expected to remain off-action for an undetermined period of time.
And while Simmons is still looking for a trade, Daryl Morey confirmed through an interview with a Philadelphia radio Thursday that he will not be pressured into trading Ben Simmons. “People should buckle in. This is going to go a long time”, said Morey, per Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix.
