Seven-time All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge came close to retiring at 36 due to a heart condition he’s been facing, he even announced his decision back in April 2021 after playing five games with the Brooklyn Nets.
After his doctors fully cleared him to play, he returned to action with the Nets and made history on Friday night, as he joined the 20,000-point club.
Aldridge reached the milestone after burying a long-range shot in the second half of Nets’ 105-98 win over the Indiana Pacers. He finished the game with a total of 21 points.
“It feels good. A true blessing,” said Aldridge in the post-game press conference. “Definitely didn’t think it was going to happen after what happened last year. Stuck with it, fought back, and it definitely felt good to get it done and get back out there and just feel blessed.”
The veteran big man is the 48th player in NBA history to reach the 20k points mark and just the seventh overall active player to do so, alongside Kevin Durant, James Harden, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook.
