Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James will be sidelined for at least one week due to an abdominal strain after Tuesday’s win against the Houston Rockets, the team announced Thursday.
There’s no timeline for his return yet, and according to reports by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Lakers want to “take their time” with James’ injury so early in the season.
James, 36, has missed two of the Lakers’ first eight contests so far in the season as the team holds on to a 5-3 record. He is on to his 19th NBA campaign and is averaging 24.8 points on 46.7% shooting, 7 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game.
The Lakers face Oklahoma City Thunder at home Thursday, then travel to Portland to face the Trail Blazers this Saturday.
