Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid tested positive for COVID-19 and has been placed under the NBA health and safety protocols per the Philadelphia Inquirer. The All-Star big man may be out for 10 days if he doesn’t produce two negative results for coronavirus in the next 24 hours.
The plan for the Sixers was to rest Embiid for the match vs. the New York Knicks Monday (8/11) and now the player could miss some more matches. He’s the fourth Sixers player to be placed in the health and safety protocols after Tobias Harris, Isaiah Joe and Matisse Thybulle.
Embiid has been averaging 21.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the 2021-22 season so far.
