For the first time since 2016, the NBA champions visited the White House, with President Joe Biden welcoming the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday afternoon. The NBA champions skipped the visit during the Trump administration and it’s more than symbolic that a son of illegal immigrants is leading them on their return.
“A kid from Sepolia, Athens, Greece, born to Nigerian parents, who were struggling every day to provide for us, being illegal at the time, it’s an unbelievable opportunity to be able to be in the White House, meeting the president of the United States”, said Giannis Antetokounmpo standing in the podium near the US President.
The Greek freak had previously posted the following message on the Bucks social media: “From Sepolia to the Oval Office, meeting the president of the United States. I’m grateful for this opportunity, and it’s a great example that with a lot of hard work, you can accomplish a lot of things in life, and this is one of those amazing gifts that we get to experience.”

Biden himself addressed the issue, speaking also about the unique story of the Antetokounmpo family which already includes three NBA champions in Giannis, Thanasis, and Kostas, who won the title as a member of the Lakers roster: “You’re 26 years old and you’re just getting started. You won the championship with your brother and joined another one of your brothers in earning a championship ring. What a hell of a family … I think you won the gene pool. I know your mom is so proud of you and your dad is looking down, watching you all”.
And by praising Antetokounmpo, the Bucks and their international flavor, Biden also praised the game of basketball: “We have seen a distinctively American game becoming the fastest-growing sport in the world”.
