Los Angeles Lakers went down 83-107 against the Minnesota Timberwolves at home and veteran Anthony Davis expressed his frustration whilst speaking to reporters post-game.
The Lakers were outscored 40-12 in the third quarter, their second-worst points differential in the franchise’s history for any quarter since the shot-clock was introduced in 1954-55, per ESPN Stats & Info. Davis, who tapped 22 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks in the game, did not hide his disappointment.
“We sucked,” Davis told reporters about his team’s third-quarter performance. “No defense. Can’t score. That’s not just this third quarter, it’s every third quarter we’ve played this season. We come out slow, lackadaisical offensively and defensively. We got to get it together. Why? I can’t tell you. But we got to do a better job.”
The Lakers took the lead at halftime, though their third-quarter meltdown resulted in a disheartening loss.
“We got to decide who we want to be. A championship team? That’s not us right now,” Davis added. “We’re not winning a championship the way we’re playing. We got to be better, and we got to care more for our wins at home. Wins in general. That was embarrassing.”
