Stephen Curry just needed one three-pointer before stepping into Friday’s contest against Chicago Bulls to tie Ray Allen’s record for most three-pointers made in the NBA.
And so he did, hitting his first out of a total 9, in the first two minutes of the game, and by the time the Golden State Warriors have sealed a blowout victory over the Bulls, Curry had officially broken Allen’s record of 3,358 threes.
Most significantly, Curry has managed to do so having 585 fewer games than Allen, a total of 886 as opposed to the latter’s 1,471. The Warriors superstar signed off with 40 points on 9-17 from the three-point line on Friday night.
Next on the list for most-three pointers scored are Reggie Miller with 2,880 across 1,027 games, James Harden with 2,827 in 1,027 games, Kyle Korver with 2,704 in 1,377 contests.
LeBron James is actively chasing Jason Terry (2,503 threes in 1,534 games) to overtake the sixth place as he’s currently ranked 7th with 2,428 three-pointers made in 1,582 games.
